As you may know by now (but it’s okay if you don’t — I will explain it anyway), rAVe [PUBS] has partnered with AVNation to grow the AV industry. Through this partnership, AV Buyers.Club, our publication arm specifically for technical end users, in-house integrators and the like, is working with AVNation to create more content specifically for those important people in AV. Tim Albright recently created a videocast with Shure that overviews the importance of classroom communications and I’d like to talk about it.
First of all, if you want to check out the full videocast, you can do that below:
In this episode, Albright interviews Aaron Niemann, specialist senior market development at Shure. If you’re familiar with Shure, I’m sure you could guess that the two spend time discussing the MXW neXt 2, a wireless microphone system for tons of different hybrid environments. The most popular environment, I would say, is for sure the classroom. While I’m sure you’ve heard of/seen a wireless microphone before, this is a lot more.
According to Shure, this product is essentially four products in one: a wireless microphone system, a smart charging station, a digital signal processor and an audio interface.
When it comes to the microphone/transmitter options, there are multiple so that a teacher/lecturer/presenter can pick the one that works best for them. The options are:
- Handheld — Includes 24-hour battery life.
- Bodypack — Includes 17-hour battery life.
- Boundary — Includes 17-hour battery life.
And like I mentioned above, this product is a digital signal processor aka Shure’s IntelliMix. IntelliMix offers a lot of audio-quality-improving features like automatic mic mixing, automatically switching how much noise reduction you have, etc.
“The fact that we can actually implement IntelliMix on all of our MXA products, built into those products, ensures that those devices sound incredible and deliver pristine audio every time,” said Niemann.
I also think it’s important that the two noted how important Teams and Zoom certification is.
I really respect that Shure spent so much time trying to build the perfect product for the hybrid classroom model because of how difficult it has been in the past for teachers to walk into a space and for the tech in there to just work. You guys all know what I’m talking about. And who wants to spend 5 minutes at the beginning of a class watching a teacher bumble and fumble with a microphone? Not me.
The beauty of this product is the smart charging station.
