University of Central Florida Adds Sennheiser Ceiling Microphones to Enhance Classroom Audio

The University of Central Florida has installed Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 (TCC 2) microphones across classrooms and meeting spaces at its main campus, including combinable learning spaces and a large conference room in Millican Hall.

The ceiling-mounted microphones were selected to solve audio coverage challenges in larger or reconfigurable rooms as part of a broader effort to upgrade legacy AV systems and improve clarity for lectures and group discussions.

Traditional microphone setups often created hardware clutter and added complexity. UCF said the TCC 2’s beamforming technology allows for full-room coverage without the need for tabletop microphones or extensive wireless infrastructure. The devices also integrate with the university’s existing Crestron control systems.

Mike Ferry, assistant director of instructional technology at UCF, said the system’s unobtrusive design and performance were key benefits. “The TeamConnect Ceiling 2 delivers flawless audio and the product is discreet — nearly invisible — allowing users to focus on the meeting and not the technology,” he said.

The TCC 2 supports Dante and analog audio outputs, PoE, and integration with conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Features include talker-based camera tracking and customizable audio zones.
