Church Unlimited’s Corpus Christi campus recently upgraded its sound system with Eastern Acoustic Works’ ADAPTive series, replacing a 20-year-old PA that could no longer meet the demands of its growing worship services.
The church partnered with Messenger AVL, a Georgia-based integration firm that specializes in worship environments, to design and deploy the new system. Messenger AVL selected EAW’s ADAPTive technology for its ability to deliver full-room coverage without compromising aesthetics or budget.
“Church Unlimited wanted to create a feeling of width and immersion,” said Parker Gann, Senior Systems Engineer.at Messenger AVL. “They had a fixed budget and specific sonic goals. EAW’s ADAPTive series gave us the performance and flexibility we needed without compromises.”
The system uses a left-center-right configuration with four EAW Anna loudspeakers as mains, four Anya loudspeakers for out fill and two AC6 column loudspeakers for extended horizontal coverage. Low frequencies are reinforced by 12 SBX218 subwoofers, with six flown and six placed on the ground.
“I was floored at what the AC6s can do and the amount of space they can cover,” said Gann. “The system has so much headroom and power while barely touching the boxes. It’s incredible how the PA just disappears above the trim height of the production lighting. The church loves the clean aesthetic that EAW offers.”
EAW’s software-controlled ADAPTive platform allowed Messenger AVL to fine-tune the system for clarity and consistency, even in off-axis seating areas.
“Even when seated far off to the sides, the intelligibility and sonic consistency are remarkable,” added Gann. “We were blown away by the low-end performance of the Anna and Anya boxes. The result is an extremely engaging experience for every seat in the room.”
The installation stayed on schedule, with Messenger AVL and EAW working closely from the initial system model through the final tuning. The ADAPTive platform’s scalability and control allowed the team to deliver a precise, high-performance system that exceeded expectations.
“My team loved working on this project,” said Gann. “EAW’s ADAPTive system performed beautifully, and I can definitely see us using it for more system designs in the future.”
With the new system in place, Church Unlimited is delivering worship experiences with greater clarity, consistency and emotional impact.
