The JB Duke Hotel and Conference Center in Durham, North Carolina, has upgraded two classrooms and adjoining breakout spaces with Extron’s NAV Pro AV over IP platform for signal switching and distribution.
The Glaxo Classroom and the Executive Classroom are hybrid learning spaces that support Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and also host events for outside groups. Both classrooms now feature new AV systems built around Extron NAV encoders, decoders and networked management tools.
“We specified NAV Pro AV over IP based on its flexibility,” said David Johnson, CHTP, area director of information technology at JB Duke Hotel. “Extron validated our design, checked the network switch configurations, verified firmware and confirmed that the NAV devices were configured correctly. They commissioned the system remotely, which was a real time saver.”
Control is handled by an Extron processor, while audio uses AES67/Dante-enabled amplifiers, DSP processing, Dante interface units and an HDMI audio embedder. The result is a flexible system designed for reliable performance during hybrid classes and conferences.
