PPDS has completed a large-scale installation of 110 Philips MediaSuite smart TVs aboard Vietnam’s Grand Pioneers I and II, two luxury superyacht hotels anchored in Halong Bay. The project delivers a connected AV experience with integrated Google Cast and Netflix-ready capabilities, bringing personalized entertainment to guests across both vessels.
Operated by Viet Thuan Group, the twin 110-meter, seven-deck superyachts represent a new benchmark in floating hospitality. Working with IT and AV integration specialist LOGICO, PPDS installed 110 Philips MediaSuite TVs ranging from 50 to 55 inches inside the cabins of the two vessels, creating a managed network of TVs designed for guest entertainment at sea.
Each TV connects to an onboard media server, giving guests access to terrestrial channels, catch-up services, and a library of movies, shows, music, and games through the Philips MediaSuite interface. Integrated Google Cast allows users to securely stream content from their personal devices directly to the in-room display without additional hardware.
Julian Lim, Sales VP for APA at PPDS, commented: “Since the introduction of Philips MediaSuite, we’ve helped to transform the in room entertainment experiences in thousands of guestrooms around the world, from small B&Bs and motels to multinational chains and resorts. As with all our solutions, Philips MediaSuite was designed to provide maximum versatility, and the ability to be tailored to any environment our partners and customers required. As demonstrated by this incredible project, this now includes hotels at sea.
“This is a landmark installation for Philips MediaSuite TVs, and we’re thrilled that guests staying on board the Grand Pioneers I and II can enjoy a TV experience unmatched by any other cruise.”
The installation showcases how networked display systems can deliver high-quality, personalized entertainment in nontraditional environments, extending PPDS’s connected hospitality footprint to maritime spaces.
