Bowers & Wilkins Partners With McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 Team for Special Edition Headphones

Bowers & Wilkins has released the Px8 S2 McLaren Edition, a new version of its award-winning wireless headphones developed in collaboration with McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 Team. The model features upgraded audio performance and McLaren-inspired styling.

The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition builds on the design of the Px8 S2 and uses the signature Papaya color accents combined with Anthracite Grey. The headphones include Nappa leather on the earcups and headband, diecast aluminum arms and diamond-cut detailing. The McLaren Speedmark appears on both the headband and the earcups.

The headphones use new 40 mm Carbon Cone drive units that have redesigned chassis, magnets, suspension and voice coils. The drivers are angled inside each earcup to help maintain consistent imaging and stereo spaciousness. The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition also features optimized noise cancellation that reduces unwanted sound without affecting musical detail.

For wireless performance, the headphones support Qualcomm aptX Adaptive 24/96, aptX Lossless and Bowers & Wilkins digital signal processing. Listeners can configure the headphones through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app to adjust transparency mode, set wear-sensor sensitivity and customize the Quick Action button. The app also provides a five-band EQ with the option to save presets.

The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition offers a 30-hour battery life, with a 15-minute quick charge providing up to seven hours of listening time.

“This exciting new edition of our exceptional Px8 S2 headphones perfectly celebrates our long-term partnership with McLaren, and gives fans another industry-leading audio product showcasing McLaren’s design DNA to express their passion for their team,” Lyle Smith, President of Sound United at Harman, said in a statement.

Bowers & Wilkins and McLaren have worked together since 2015 on high-performance audio systems for McLaren supercars and Ultimate Series models. The partnership now extends across McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 Team, with shared engineering and technology development.

The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition will be available from November 19 on the Bowers & Wilkins website and through selected retailers, priced at $899, £729 and €829.
