Barco Wins Copyright Case Against Yealink for WPP20 and WPP30 Products

Barco announced Dec. 2 that it won a lawsuit against Yealink for infringing its ClickShare wireless presentation technology. According to court documents, Yealink admitted to six infringements of Barco’s copyright patents. Barco received over $900,000 in damages for one year of infringing sales of Yealink’s WPP20 and WPP30 products.

The ruling stems from Barco’s original filing Nov. 14, 2023, in response to Yealink’s release of these products in the U.S.

As a result of the court ruling, WPP20 and WPP30 products will remain unavailable; Yealink has already removed them from the U.S. market. However, Yealink assured continued support for customers in a statement from November, “Yealink’s business operations in other regions remain unaffected and continue to operate without disruption. All existing services and customer commitments continue as normal.”

“The jury’s verdict ensures the continued removal of Yealink’s infringing products from the US market. We will carefully monitor the industry and prevent resellers of collaboration tools for video conferencing on online platforms and web shops from further reselling Yealink’s WPP20 and WPP30 devices in the US,” Kurt Verheggen, general counsel at Barco, said.

According to Yealink, other products — including the MeetingBar A20, MeetingBoard and RoomCast — are not affected.
