Extron AV switching, distribution and control systems were installed across two newly constructed academic buildings at Pontifical Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá to support teaching and collaboration.
The university recently completed construction of two 14-story facilities dedicated to science and engineering education. Hundreds of instructional spaces within the buildings were equipped with audiovisual systems designed to support a range of teaching and learning activities. Bogotá-based AV design and integration firm Stream NG specified and installed the systems.
The deployment includes a mix of Extron classroom technologies and infrastructure components, including WallVault and PoleVault digital classroom systems, DTP Systems transmitters, receivers and switchers, ShareLink Pro wireless presentation systems, audio amplifiers, digital signal processors, speakers, Cable Cubby connectivity enclosures, TouchLink Pro touchpanels, NBP and eBUS button panels, MediaLink Plus controllers, IP Link Pro xi control processors and HDMI cabling.
“Extron control and user interface software is logical and stable, making programming and configuring AV systems straightforward and rapid,” said Harold Camargo, Chief Executive Officer of Stream NG. “Another notable Extron strength is the versatility of its CrossPoint matrix switchers, which integrate equipment control, signal routing, amplification, and audio into a single unit.”
AV system designs in both the Science Building and Engineering Building were tailored to the size and function of individual spaces. The installations use DTP signal extension to accommodate varying cable lengths throughout the high-rise facilities.
User control is provided through a combination of NBP Network Button Panels, MediaLink Plus controllers and TouchLink Pro touchpanels. The university also implemented centralized monitoring and support, allowing a help desk to manage and troubleshoot systems remotely using GlobalViewer Enterprise.
The university said the AV infrastructure was designed to provide consistent performance across instructional spaces while simplifying system operation and long-term support.
