Kwikset has integrated its UNITE electronic locks with the ButterflyMX Access Control & Security Platform, enabling propertywide access through a single mobile app.
The integration allows residents to unlock apartment doors, building entrances, gates and amenity spaces using the ButterflyMX mobile app. The solution does not require managed Wi-Fi networks or connectivity hubs.
Kwikset UNITE Bluetooth and RFID-enabled electronic locks connect with the ButterflyMX platform to deliver a keyless access experience across multifamily properties.
Residents can use mobile credentials through the app or physical credentials such as fobs and cards to unlock doors. The locks use built-in Bluetooth and RFID readers to support access even without Wi-Fi connectivity.
Property managers can manage access to UNITE locks through the ButterflyMX operating system. The companies said the integration eliminates the need for additional software platforms and reduces infrastructure requirements.
By consolidating building and unit access into a single platform, the integration removes the need for multiple apps or credentials across a property.
“UNITE was developed to address the evolving needs of multifamily property managers and residents,” said David Fernandez, product lead of multifamily EAC at Kwikset. “By integrating with ButterflyMX, we are delivering a property-wide access experience that simplifies operations, reduces infrastructure requirements and enhances convenience for residents.”
The integration builds on Kwikset’s launch of UNITE, an electronic access control solution designed for the multifamily market with cloud-based management and mobile capabilities.
“Residents and property managers expect a seamless access experience that works across every door on a property,” said Emily Kubec, product lead for platform and smart locks at ButterflyMX. “Integrating Kwikset UNITE locks into the ButterflyMX platform means residents get one app for everything, from the front gate to their unit door, and property teams get a single system to manage it all, with no added complexity.”
The integration is designed for multifamily housing, student housing and mixed-use developments, and will be available through professional channel distributors and dealers.
