Vaddio, a brand of Legrand | AV has introduced SpeakerVIEW, a camera automation solution that uses directional audio from ceiling microphone arrays to automatically identify active speakers and direct PTZ cameras to frame them in real time.
The solution is designed for corporate conference rooms and higher education spaces and is available as either a dedicated hardware controller or a free firmware update for existing Vaddio EasyIP Mixer and EasyIP Dock customers.
According to Vaddio, SpeakerVIEW uses audio location data from supported ceiling microphone arrays to determine where a person is speaking and automatically position cameras without requiring a dedicated operator.
“SpeakerVIEW represents the first step in Vaddio’s broader automation strategy, and it answers a question we’ve been hearing from customers for years: ‘How do I make my cameras automatically follow the conversation?’” says Arnoud Helmantel, Senior Manager, Solutions Product Management, Legrand | AV
In rooms with multiple cameras, SpeakerVIEW can switch between cameras as conversations move around the space. Administrators can configure settings that prioritize a presenter, adjust camera behavior when remote participants speak and define responses to silence or simultaneous talkers.
Users can deploy the system through the dedicated SpeakerVIEW Controller, which supports up to eight microphone arrays, or enable the functionality through firmware updates for the EasyIP Mixer and EasyIP Dock.
At launch, SpeakerVIEW is compatible with Shure MXA920 and MXA910 ceiling microphone arrays as well as the Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling Medium.
Vaddio said the solution is intended for lecture halls, classrooms and conference rooms where presenters and participants need to remain visible to remote audiences without requiring manual camera operation.
The SpeakerVIEW Controller is available now, and firmware updates for EasyIP Mixer and EasyIP Dock customers are available at no additional cost.
