Joan Brings Employee Access Control to Reusable ePaper Badges

Joan, the workplace management brand from Visionect, announced an expansion of its reusable ePaper badge to support employee identification and event registration in addition to visitor check-in. The badges can be configured for one role at a time and managed through the Joan platform.

For employee identification, office and HR managers can configure multiple badges through the Joan Mobile App. Changes to an employee’s title, photo or access permissions are transferred to the badge over Bluetooth the next time it is nearby. Each badge also includes an NFC chip that can support door access where compatible building access-control systems are in place.

If an employee badge is reported lost, Joan says access can be revoked immediately through the access-control system. The badge’s display updates to reflect the change when it is next within Bluetooth range. The rechargeable battery lasts approximately 200 days on a charge.

For events, organizers can configure hundreds of badges using attendee registration data, including names, companies, roles and session access. Walk-in registrations and last-minute corrections can be handled by updating the badge rather than printing a replacement.

Their visitor badge continues to support digital check-in, displaying a guest’s name, company, photo and host. When the badge is returned to its dock, it clears the information for the next visitor.

Joan says the reusable ePaper badges will be publicly available Oct. 20, 2026, through its website and resellers in more than 90 countries.
