Extron introduced the UCS 504, a 4K collaboration switching transmitter and scaling receiver kit designed for small and medium-sized meeting rooms. The system combines AV and USB switching with twisted pair signal extension and is aimed at supporting BYOD and BYOM collaboration.
The UCS 504 connects USB cameras, microphones, and other room peripherals with users’ laptops, allowing meetings to be driven from personal devices instead of in-room PCs. It supports switching up to six USB peripherals—one USB 10 Gbps port and five High Speed (USB 2.0) ports that also provide power.
A single CATx cable extends video and USB 2.0 signals up to 330 feet (100 meters) between the transmitter and receiver, simplifying installation. The kit’s transmitter supports USB-C and dual HDMI inputs with USB for BYOM laptops, while the receiver adds an HDMI and USB input for a dedicated UC device and an HDMI output for the room display. Supported output resolutions reach up to 4K/60.
Automation features include auto-switching, CEC, RS-232, and IR control to the display. The compact transmitter is half rack width and can be mounted under a table. The 1-inch-high receiver can be installed behind a display.
Extron says the UCS 504 is purpose-built for Teams, Zoom, and other UC platforms, helping integrators support modern meeting room workflows.
