Google to Debut 3D Conferencing System, Beam, at InfoComm 2025

Google is preparing to unveil Beam, its new 3D video conferencing system developed from the company’s earlier Project Starline research initiative. Designed to create life-like remote interactions, Beam will make its official debut in partnership with HP at InfoComm 2025.

Originally introduced as Project Starline, the technology was developed to redefine video communication by creating the sensation of physical presence without requiring headsets or glasses. Beam builds on that vision using AI-driven volumetric video modeling to render participants in 3D from multiple angles, transforming standard 2D video into immersive experiences.

The system uses Google Cloud infrastructure alongside the company’s AI capabilities to deliver real-time 3D video with enterprise-grade reliability. Google says Beam supports compatibility with existing conferencing workflows and includes features such as real-time voice translation for multilingual communication.

With AI integrated throughout, the platform is designed to support more natural conversations that feel face-to-face, even when participants are separated by geography or language. Google has shared a preview video of the experience available here:

Beam will be demonstrated live for the first time at InfoComm 2025 in Las Vegas.
