LG, Marriott Design Lab Team Up on Autonomous Vacuum for Hotels

LG Electronics has developed a commercial-grade robotic vacuum cleaner in partnership with the Marriott Design Lab. Designed specifically for hospitality environments, the new autonomous vacuum is now available industry-wide following pilot deployments at Marriott International properties.

Built for commercial use in hotels and resorts, the LG Robotic Vacuum Cleaner is engineered to clean floors in corridors, meeting rooms and other high-traffic areas. The robot uses a combination of LiDAR and Vision Fusion SLAM sensor technology to map spaces accurately and navigate complex layouts, enabling efficient overnight cleaning with minimal disruption to guests.

The vacuum features a 3-liter dustbin, dual suction and sweeping functionality, and is optimized for collecting larger debris like paper scraps. A cloud-based management platform provides hotel operators with real-time updates on location, battery status and cleaning progress. The system supports multiple language options and allows management of several units at once from a mobile app. It also tracks cleaning history to deliver operational insights.

The project stems from a collaboration with the Marriott Design Lab, a research and development initiative focused on integrating emerging technologies into daily hotel operations. The lab explores tools that improve energy efficiency, enhance guest experiences and streamline workflows. LG and Marriott have a long-standing relationship, including LG’s role as a preferred vendor of hotel TVs across Marriott properties.

The partnership aims to integrate forward-looking solutions into hotel operations that improve efficiency, reduce energy use, and enhance the guest experience.
