LG Unveils OPS-Based Chromebox Card for CreateBoard to Bring ChromeOS to the Classroom

LG Electronics introduced a new OPS (Open Pluggable Specification) Chromebox card designed for its LG CreateBoard, allowing users to convert the interactive flat panel display into a large-format ChromeOS device.

With the new slot-in module, educators and IT administrators can tap into ChromeOS features and Google for Education tools natively on LG’s CreateBoard platform. The Chromebox OPS is built with security features such as verified boot, a dedicated security chip, and automatic updates, including BIOS/UEFI firmware. User data is automatically encrypted, and encryption keys are secured via a Trusted Platform Module (TPM).

In addition to its deep integration with Google for Education, the LG Chromebox OPS supports Windows virtual machines through Google Play, Android apps, and the Linux development environment. It also enables key IT management features such as zero-touch enrollment, forced re-enrollment, Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP), and OS rollback.

The device is aimed at expanding education-focused interactivity in the classroom, helping institutions provide scalable, secure and easy-to-manage learning environments.
