Nanolumens and Noro Partner to Launch Life-Size Portal Collaboration System

Nanolumens and Noro have formed a partnership to bring Portal, an immersive collaboration platform designed to create life-size remote presence, to the global market. The system combines Nanolumens’ dvLED display technology with Noro’s spatial camera and design capabilities to support hybrid communication across enterprise, education and command environments.

Portal is designed to make remote participants appear at full scale with natural proportions, depth and movement. The platform presents users without the need for headsets or specialized devices, aiming to provide a more realistic alternative to traditional videoconferencing systems.

“Portal is setting a new standard for hybrid collaboration,” said Kurt DeYoung, chief revenue officer for Nanolumens. “By uniting our display engineering with Noro’s spatial camera intelligence, we’ve created a system that redefines what remote collaboration can feel like. Together, we’re closing the gap between physical and virtual presence.”

“Noro’s mission has always been to make distance irrelevant,” said Teun Hilte, Head of Client Relations at Noro. “We put the human element front and center of the experience, and the design-driven LED display solutions of Nanolumens bring clarity and presence to every interaction”.

The platform was developed with an emphasis on presence, engagement and simplicity, according to both companies. Early pilot programs have shown how the system performs in real-world scenarios.

“It felt like glimpsing a bit of the future with huge portals where you could see full-size versions of people in meetings,” said Nick Bloom, professor at Stanford University. “We had a call to New York, and it felt connected to see people’s movement as they walked around, rather than just their heads.”

Stuart Bern, Managing Director, Americas at JLL, shared a similar experience. “The energy was something that cannot be explained but must be experienced. The benefits of connecting team members across offices while reducing travel costs and emissions is just the beginning.”

Nanolumens and Noro plan to release Portal globally through their integrator networks beginning in early 2026. Configurations will be available for a range of environments, including enterprise workplaces, educational institutions and command environments.
