SNA Displays to Upgrade LED Video Boards at Michigan State’s Spartan Stadium

Michigan State University selected SNA Displays to replace the LED video boards at Spartan Stadium, as part of a larger modernization effort ahead of the 2025 NCAA football season.

The project includes retrofitting several key display systems across the 75,000-seat venue, including the primary south end zone scoreboard, two northeast auxiliary video boards, a curved fascia display on the stadium’s north end, and 172 linear feet of LED ribbon at field level. SNA Displays is also managing demolition of the existing displays and will install new illuminated channel signage and cladding.

The upgraded boards will use SNA Displays’ 10 mm EMPIRE Exterior LED technology. The south scoreboard — already one of the largest in college football — will be extended by 18 feet, adding nearly 1,000 square feet of digital display space.

“As a primary revenue generator for corporate sponsorships and being critical to game day operations, replacing the boards is necessary as all three are at the end of their lifespan,” according to the Spartan’s website.

The upgrades are part of broader improvements to the stadium, including ADA compliance renovations, enhanced safety and security, and seating updates.

“Having established a good relationship with Michigan State University through our work at the Breslin Center, we are thrilled to be back to work at one of college football’s premier venues,” said Barbara Barry, director of sports and live events at SNA Displays. “These upgrades to Spartan Stadium will not only enhance the gameday experience for the MSU community, but will increase revenue generation opportunities through businesses, sponsors, and alumni donors.”

Anthony James Partners served as the owner’s representative, supporting MSU with system design and procurement services. Construction is expected to wrap before the 2025 season kicks off.
