Sony BRAVIA professional displays have been installed throughout the Sports and Recreation Centre (SRC) at Gdynia Maritime University in Poland, providing AV support for everything from meetings and workouts to live event streaming and digital signage.
Designed to serve both the university and the local Tricity community, the facility includes a modern sports hall with flexible architecture that allows it to be divided into three separate playing fields for sports like basketball, football and volleyball. It also features a climbing wall and multiple conference and meeting spaces.
Sony’s BRAVIA BZ40H displays were installed in the facility’s VIP and conference rooms, offering 4K resolution with Full Array LED backlighting and a peak brightness of 850 cd/m². The BRAVIA line’s 4K X1 processor delivers enhanced contrast and HDR support, while 4K X-Reality PRO upscales lower-resolution content. Integrated X-Balanced speakers add to the audiovisual experience.
“Sony is all about quality and reliability,” said Paweł Musiałowicz, commercial consultant at integrator Eurotrend Systemy Audiowizualne. “As integrators, we also appreciate the ease of integrating the devices with the control system.”
The VIP room, used for pre-game briefings, university events, and commercial rental, is equipped with multimedia systems including projectors, ceiling speakers and BRAVIA displays. Three PTZ cameras were installed to capture activity in the sports hall, with output transmitted to nearby monitors. When not in use for meetings, the displays run university-related digital signage.
In the SRC’s conference room, an 85-inch BRAVIA monitor serves as the main display, supporting wireless content sharing and video conferencing via a Microsoft Teams Rooms kit.
Additional BRAVIA monitors are installed throughout the building’s gym, which is divided into cardio, free weight, machine, and fitness zones. Outfitted with high-end equipment from MATRIX and TECHNOGYM, the space is designed to support a wide range of training needs. The displays provide sports-related digital signage, entertainment content, and optional personal device integration via Wi-Fi, allowing users to stream preferred content from their smartphones.
“We are grateful that Gdynia Maritime University is utilizing Sony BRAVIA in their bid to make a more comfortable and enjoyable environment for their students,” said Adam Dover, senior corporate and trade marketing manager at Sony Europe.
Sony’s five-year swap warranty and seamless integration with control systems were key considerations in the technology selection, according to the project team.
