Christie Projectors Help Power Immersive Storytelling at Montana Heritage Center

Christie projectors are part of the audiovisual technology bringing Montana’s history to life at the new Montana Heritage Center in Helena. The 150,000-square-foot museum combines projection, LED displays, interactive exhibits, spatial audio and motion sensing to create an immersive experience that explores the state’s history from its earliest peoples through today.

AV design and integration for the project was led by Electrosonic, with Christie Captiva and GS Series 1DLP projectors providing projection throughout key exhibit spaces. The project also involved collaboration with exhibit and technology partners including RLMG, Main Street Design, Available Light, Cinnabar, Cushing Terrell and Sletten Construction.

One of the museum’s featured experiences is Washington Way, an immersive entrance that combines projection, LED pillars and a luminous ceiling to welcome visitors into the Homeland Gallery. Throughout the facility, Christie projection works alongside LED displays, audio systems and interactive technologies to support exhibits that include multimedia presentations from Montana’s sovereign nations, a simulated mining environment and projected historical landscapes and events.

The Heritage Center’s integrated technology infrastructure allows content to be refreshed and expanded over time, enabling the museum to introduce new stories and perspectives in the future. Electrosonic said the project demonstrates how projection, audio, LED displays, lighting and interactive technologies can work together to create immersive educational experiences.
