Bogen Communications Joins PASS to Support K-12 School Safety and Emergency Communications

Bogen Communications has joined the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS), supporting the organization’s efforts to improve safety and security practices across K-12 schools.

PASS develops School Safety and Security Guidelines that provide a tiered framework for assessing risk and implementing protective measures in K-12 facilities. The guidelines are referenced by school administrators, design consultants and integrators when planning and upgrading school safety infrastructure.

“Joining PASS provides a structured way to stay aligned with how schools are approaching safety planning and procurement,” said Randall Lee, Vice president of Marketing and Product Management at Bogen Communications. “It gives us direct input from consultants, end users and public safety professionals, which helps ensure our communication systems support both daily operations and emergency protocols in a way that matches real-world requirements.”

Bogen’s Nyquist platform is an IP-based paging and intercom system that supports routine and emergency communications across classrooms, administrative offices, gymnasiums and common areas. The platform includes bell scheduling, zone paging, two-way intercom communication, staff phone integration and centralized system management.

According to Bogen, Nyquist includes capabilities that align with practices referenced in the PASS guidelines. These include emergency classroom check-ins, customizable lockdown and evacuation procedures and National Weather Service alert notifications.

The platform can also connect with third-party safety and security systems. Mobile administrative access gives authorized staff and first responders the ability to initiate and manage communications from different locations.
