Christie projectors played a starring role in the world premiere of “Dino Lumina: A Jurassic Adventure” at the Dallas Zoo, the oldest and largest zoo in Texas. The immersive exhibit, created by Phillipe Bergeron, president and CEO of PaintScaping, uses Christie 3DLP 30,000-lumen 4K projectors to transform the forest into a prehistoric world filled with lifelike dinosaurs from the Jurassic era. Since opening on November 22, the exhibit has welcomed more than 65,000 visitors and runs through January 4.
The installation features 13 Christie 3DLP projectors and utilizes scrim technology—a nearly invisible woven screen that becomes translucent with rear projection light—to create the illusion of dinosaurs, including herbivores, raptors, and pterodactyls, roaming through the forest. Projection mapping also animates trees, making them appear to grow before the audience’s eyes. The more invisible the mesh, the more spectacular the effect. The 3D soundscape was created by the Academy Award®-winning team of Sylvain Bellemare (“Arrival”, directed by Denis Villeneuve.)

Nationwide Video, a leader in the ProAV rental space, loaned Paintscaping a Christie Griffyn 4K50-RGB pure laser projector to test the initial concept and provided 13 Christie 3DLP projectors for “Dino Lumina”.
