Crestron Electronics has announced Collab Engine, a new collaboration platform that combines video conferencing, content distribution and room control in a single device. Designed for Microsoft Teams Rooms and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) environments, the platform gives AV and IT teams a common foundation for managing different types of meeting and learning spaces.
Collab Engine supports two operating modes. Microsoft Teams Rooms mode provides a native Teams experience with one-touch meeting access, while Crestron AirMedia mode enables wireless presentation and conferencing across platforms using personal devices. The platform also integrates with Crestron Intelligent Video and Intelligent Audio technologies to support camera coverage and audio configurations based on each room’s layout and requirements.
Built on Android and the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform (MDEP), Collab Engine is designed to support enterprise security and IT management. It also integrates with Crestron’s XiO Cloud platform for centralized deployment, monitoring and management across multiple rooms.
The platform will be available in two models: Collab Engine 4100 and Collab Engine 4200. Both include a Crestron 4-Series Control System for room automation, while the 4200 adds integrated DM NVX AV-over-IP distribution for network-based content distribution.
“IT teams are managing a wider variety of spaces than ever, and on top of that, user expectations for how these spaces should operate continue to grow,” said Brad Hintze, executive vice president of global customer success and marketing at Crestron. “More than anything, organizations need a foundation they can trust.”
Collab Engine is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2027, expanding Crestron’s Collab product family following the introduction of Collab Compute earlier in 2026.
