Interface Systems has launched Digital Keys, a mobile wallet access control solution for Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) systems that allows businesses to replace physical keys, access cards and fobs with secure mobile credentials stored in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
The new mobile access control platform is designed for retailers, quick-service restaurants and multi-location businesses looking to improve building security, simplify employee access management and reduce the operational costs associated with physical credentials.
Using the DMP Virtual Keypad application, administrators can remotely issue, modify, schedule and revoke employee, contractor and vendor access credentials. Credentials can be delivered instantly by text or email and added directly to a smartphone wallet without requiring users to download an additional app.
Digital Keys uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for tap-to-unlock door access through smartphones and smartwatches. Interface Systems said the credentials can continue functioning even when a phone battery is low.
The company said the solution helps businesses reduce access control management costs by eliminating the need to replace lost keycards and fobs, recover physical keys or rekey doors after employee turnover. The system also supports temporary mobile credentials for vendors, contractors and seasonal workers with automatic expiration scheduling.
Interface Systems said businesses can combine Digital Keys with video surveillance integrations to connect access activity with recorded footage for additional security verification and audit tracking.
“Retailers, restaurant operators, and commercial businesses need access control that keeps pace with employee turnover, distributed locations, and evolving security expectations,” said Steve Womer, SVP of Product at Interface Systems. “Digital Keys gives them a practical way to reduce dependence on physical credentials while improving control over who can access each location. Administrators can issue, modify, or revoke access remotely, helping businesses lower costs, reduce risk, and respond faster when employees, vendors, or contractors change.”
The mobile credential solution supports multi-technology readers that work alongside existing access cards and fobs, allowing businesses to modernize physical security systems while preserving existing infrastructure investments.
Digital Keys is now available for customers using DMP access control systems.
