Lumio Adds AI Assist to Speed Lesson Creation for Educators

Lumio has introduced new AI-driven updates designed to help educators create, adapt and deliver classroom lessons more quickly, with features debuting at FETC and TCEA 2026.

The latest enhancements focus on reducing time spent on lesson setup and improving classroom workflows, based on feedback from teachers. Lumio said the updates are intended to help educators build engaging, classroom-ready lessons while maintaining control over content and instruction.

Attendees at FETC and TCEA 2026 can see the new features at the SMART and Lumio booth, where the company will highlight AI Assist lesson generation, new accessibility updates and instant-start classroom engagement tools.

“Teachers tell us time is their most limited resource,” said Dan McMahon, Vice President of Software at SMART Technologies. “AI-powered lesson creation helps educators move from idea to instruction in moments, while still teaching the way they know works best. That’s a game-changer for everyday classroom practice.”

Lumio’s AI Assist allows teachers to start with a simple prompt and generate a complete, editable lesson that includes activities, handouts and discussion tools. Educators can review and refine the content before delivering it in class. Lumio said the tool is designed to reduce setup time while keeping teachers in control of lesson design.

In addition to AI Assist, Lumio introduced several educator-focused updates aimed at supporting everyday classroom use. Instant Start Lessons allow teachers to launch common activities, such as polls or quick checks for understanding, with fewer steps. Team Libraries provide a shared space where educators can organize and collaborate on lesson resources. Accessibility updates include improved keyboard navigation and expanded screen reader compatibility, supporting tools such as ChromeVox, Narrator, VoiceOver, JAWS and NVDA.

Educators can experience the new features at FETC (Booth #1327) and TCEA (Booth #1044), where Lumio will demonstrate how the platform supports lesson creation, classroom engagement and real-time instruction.
