Samsung Electronics has unveiled a monumental LED display at the Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul, transforming Myeongdong Square into a vibrant visual landmark. The installation, revealed during the “2024 Lights Up SEOUL, KOREA” event, is part of Samsung’s efforts to redefine the urban landscape and draw visitors to one of Seoul’s most iconic shopping districts.
“Our LED displays present unlimited possibilities for places like Myeongdong to bear new elements of cultural significance,” said Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “This installation gives us an opportunity to showcase in the biggest way possible that our outdoor digital displays are built to engage, built to deliver impactful content, and built to last.”
The massive installation, using Samsung’s XHB Series (P8) outdoor LED technology, wraps around the department store’s outer wall. Spanning 71.8 meters in width and 17.9 meters in height, the display covers an area equivalent to three basketball courts, immersing passersby in rich, dynamic content.

Strategically located in the Myeongdong Special Tourist Zone, the installation leverages the area’s status as a free outdoor advertising zone, turning it into a canvas for digital art, vibrant advertisements, and seasonal displays. The LED façade will transform into a festive media showcase during the holidays, amplifying the spirit of the season with immersive light displays.
This new addition continues Samsung’s legacy of delivering transformative digital signage, following successful projects at venues like New York’s Citi Field and Houston’s Minute Maid Park. In Seoul, the Shinsegae media façade reimagines the visual experience for both locals and tourists, creating a must-visit destination that celebrates the fusion of heritage and cutting-edge technology.
