SNA Displays Adds New LED Pylon Outside Dignity Health Arena

SNA Displays completed a new LED pylon outside Dignity Health Arena, Theater and Convention Center in Bakersfield, California. The 10,000-seat venue, formerly known as Mechanics Bank Arena, hosts sporting events, concerts, shows and other live events.

The freestanding pylon stands 36 feet, 6 inches tall and includes two vertically oriented LED displays. Each screen measures 18 feet tall by 10 feet, 6 inches wide and is positioned at a 30-degree angle to improve visibility for traffic traveling in both directions along Truxtun Avenue. The structure also incorporates City of Bakersfield colors, channel lettering and accent lighting.

The displays can be used to show event-related content and digital out-of-home advertising. According to city officials cited by SNA Displays, the advertising component is expected to provide revenue for the city, while arena clients can use the displays for themed content related to their events.

“There’s such a wide array of diverse events held at the venue,” said Barbara Barry, director of sports and live events for SNA Displays. “The new dynamic LED pylon will greatly improve guest engagement and provide valuable revenue for the city.”

Anthony James Partners provided design, procurement and construction administration services for the project. Sign Factory handled demolition and LED installation.
