Sony Electronics and VITEC have announced a global collaboration to integrate VITEC’s IPTV and digital signage platform with Sony’s BRAVIA professional displays, creating a playerless solution designed for corporate, hospitality, entertainment, health care and public-sector environments.
The integration brings VITEC’s Avedia IPTV and digital signage platform directly to the system-on-chip (SoC) of Sony’s Android-based BRAVIA professional displays. This allows organizations to deploy VITEC’s Avedia player software directly on the displays without requiring external media players.
According to the companies, the approach can simplify installation, streamline management, reduce hardware requirements and lower the total cost of ownership for end users.
The solution is managed through VITEC’s content management system (CMS), which can support large-scale deployments with thousands of displays. Organizations can centrally manage live IPTV channels, digital signage, interactive content and targeted advertising across displays of various sizes.

The companies said the system is also designed for large-scale deployments that require reliability and security. Capabilities include centralized content control, redundancy features and support for the latest security standards.

The playerless architecture reduces the number of peripheral devices required for an installation. Sony said its BRAVIA professional displays include energy-saving features such as light sensors and automatic power-down modes. VITEC’s GreenPEG initiative focuses on reducing energy consumption and environmental impact across its value chain.
