Women in AV/IT (WAVIT) has launched a redesigned version of its mentorship initiative, introducing the Wave of Influence program to provide more flexible networking and professional development opportunities for women in the AV/IT industry.
Unlike traditional one-to-one mentorship programs, the Wave of Influence allows participants to connect with multiple mentors, mentees and peers based on their career goals, interests and areas of expertise. Powered by the UpNotch mentorship platform, the program uses AI-powered recommendations to help members find professional connections and track mentorship goals and milestones.
According to WAVIT, the platform also enables members to create professional profiles, access mentorship resources and build relationships that can range from a single conversation to long-term mentorship. Mentors can set their own availability, scheduling preferences and level of participation.
To support the program’s launch, WAVIT will host a virtual orientation on Aug. 5 to demonstrate the platform, help participants build profiles and share best practices for developing mentoring relationships. The organization said it also plans to expand the program through collaborations with other organizations that support women in technology.
